Don’t Chuck Those Chuck Taylors High Tops!

Chuck Taylors High Tops or Chucks have been part of the Converse shoe designs since they were first produced in 1917.  Initially, they were intended to be athletic shoes meant to capture the basketball shoe market.  Nowadays, they are not that popular among athletes but they are truly popular among adults, teens and kids.  The Chuck Taylors High Tops adopted its name from basketball player Chuck Taylor who became an avid endorser of the product.

Chuck Taylors High Tops are the most popular and the most common design.  They can be in  black or in white.  But if you would like funky colors and designs, there are many options. You could also have the option to design your own one.  They are unisex and fits different outfits.  They are very comfortable, lightweight and durable.  However, they are not ideal for athletic activities like running since they do not offer too much arch support. But they can be used for walking, lifting and powerlifting, since they tend to put the feet flat on the ground and provides a better grip.

Just like the usual Chuck Taylors High Tops, the Chuck Taylor AS Slips can be available for men, women and for kids.  These are ideal for those who do not have enough time to do their laces.  Some find it great for airplane travel and other situations when it would be easy to slip into a pair of Chuck Taylors High Tops shoes.  They would give a snug fit because of a built-in support beneath the tongue of the shoe.  There are different colors and could be found with different designs that will give it a unique look.  Just like the Chuck Taylors High Tops with the laces, they also provide almost no or moderate arch support which is why it is still not that ideal for sport activities.  Since it is a slip-on do not look for laces in the package or in the box.

If you are tired of the canvas upper for your shoes, try the Chuck Taylors High Tops All Star Leather.  It is usually in the black or brown color, but since 2005, Converse has released metallic leather uppers for their Chucks.  Aside from black or brown, you could have one in metallic gold or silver. Chuck Taylors High Tops shoe still has the classic Chuck feel, but has something luxurious about it.  It could be the soft and supple leather complete with leather eyelet, toe cap and heel tab detail.  The luxurious feeling is complemented with a vulcanized rubber sole which is both for increased traction, flexibility and durability.

Another unique idea from Converse is the double upper version of Chuck Taylors High Tops.  It is like having two sneakers and different style options.  You could wear it with one or two laces, with the tongue up or down, sides up or down.  For example, tightening the inner upper and loosening the outer one with give you an overall loose feel.  It gives you a completely different modern retro look. The double layers are in contrasting colors making it more interesting.  They can also match different outfits and are totally great with jeans.  It has a soft fabric lining cushioning your feet but still not enough arch support for any athletic activities.

The different with the Double Upper, the CT All-Star Layer-up combines two most popular models:  the All Star Hi and the All Star Low. It takes layering into another level!  It looks like as if the AS Hi is stitched to the AS Low.  They are usually in contrasting colors giving it a unique look and feel.  Just like in Double Uppers, it could be worn with one or two laces, the tongue up and down, sides up or down.  Most of those who bought this kind of shoes recognized that it is not for any sports but mainly for style, since still there are no major arch support for your feet. Others would find it difficult to wear since it could get confusing., but still it is a unique style but a great find.

Chuck Taylors High Tops have withstood changes in fashion trends and remained as a great part of fashion and comfortable shoes. They are really great finds and worth having.
